XBoard: A Chess Client

This post is about installing XBoard on a Mac and connecting to the Free Internet Chess Server (FICS). You can download WinBoard for Windows or install from source on Linux.

Installation on Mac

You can install from source or just download from this link.

Connecting to freechess.org

Open the terminal and type the following command

/Applications/XBoard.app/Contents/MacOS/XBoard -ics -icshost freechess.org

You should now be connected.
